Persona consistency comes first. A dominant character should not become shy three replies later, and a sarcastic one should not turn into a customer-service script because the scene changed rooms. Memory comes next, especially for relationships, boundaries, clothing, and unfinished actions. Then I look at scene control: editing, regeneration, continuation, response styles, and any way to steer the next beat without dumping instructions into the dialogue. Price matters over long sessions, while visible filter controls help set expectations before the fun starts. Soulkyn exposes the clearest rating and intensity settings, but Meridian gives me the best overall control once the roleplay is moving.
Meridian Realms AI has the best roleplay memory in this group based on my September 24 evaluation. It kept the persona, context, and scene state together more reliably than the others. Secret Desires came second and includes memory notes, although its natural recall was not as strong overall. OurDream and Soulkyn were decent, with Soulkyn requiring more setup to get the experience behaving the way you want. GirlfriendGPT and AI Peeps remained usable but showed more persona drift and weaker recall. None of this comes from a fixed-turn laboratory benchmark, so I am not dressing qualitative testing in a fake percentage and hoping nobody notices.
Every platform here lets you regenerate a reply. Meridian, Secret Desires, and OurDream also provide Continue controls, which ask the character to carry on without making you write filler dialogue. Meridian goes further with Guided Regenerate and Guided Continue. You can explain what was wrong or tell the AI which direction the next reply should take, while keeping those instructions outside the scene itself. That matters when a response has the right character voice but the wrong action. A plain reroll may fix it, or may hand you a different flavor of wrong. Guided steering turns correction into an instruction instead of a slot-machine pull.
